Fiona Linday

Fiona is an East Midland’s writer, after nearly twenty years supporting literacy in schools, she wrote a debut novel for the young adult market. Get Over It, adventures were published by Onwards and Upwards. That sensitively covered adjustment to youth bereavement. Before that, her prize-winning short story, ‘Off the Beaten Track’ was published on the web. It raised awareness and challenged attitudes. Her work often showcases contemporary issues.For 2010, winning the Unique Writing Publications Short Story Award with some prose non-fiction entitled Love ( a cathartic tale for adults about surviving a miscarriage).This is in an American anthology called Spiritual Awakenings.Published in 2012 in an ebook anthology of short stories, for a crossover audience called The Heavenly Road Trip with Help For Writers. She read the Paralympic’s story from the ebook called, ‘Still First’ in London at the Bermondsey Project Gallery Perception Exhibition, with a multi-sensory performance. The remaining stories are again hopeful and futuristic.She’s branched out into various Lifelong Learning settings as a vocational creative writing practitioner. This is the sixth year she’s enjoyed tutoring at the Attenborough Arts Centre, Leicester University.As a member of the National Association of Writers in Education, she’s written magazine articles about pedagogy. During 2014, she collaborated to commemorate the Centenary with a self published booklet called Great War Winners, for 7-11 year olds. At present she continues to offer workshops in the community and is pitching another short story anthology to a local arts development charity. She has been included in ‘Welcome to Leicester’ with a poem called ‘Our Picasso Dish’. Her New Adult Suspense novel has been published in the US under a pseudonym, giving Associate Membership of the Society of Authors. She is editing a story about a homeless guy recovering from PTSD. With ACE funding, she is collaborating in editing an anthology called, ‘Family Matters’ that is out next year.
